It is my great pleasure to invite you to 2022 Australian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting and Instructional Course Lectures to be held in Noosa, Queensland on August 25 – 28th.

We are finally returning to a face-to-face conference following our various forms of Covid-19 enforced lockdowns, so it will be a wonderful opportunity to catch up with interstate colleagues on a social, scientific, and educational basis.

The format will be unchanged from recent years – the APOS / POSNZ Instructional Course Lectures conducted on the Thursday and Friday August 25 and 26th with the Annual Scientific Meeting to follow on the Saturday and Sunday August 27 and 28th.

We have been extremely lucky to secure the services of A/Professor Unni Narayanan as our international guest speaker. Dr Narayanan, currently Fellowship Director at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, has special interests and is widely published in the management of Cerebral Palsy, Deformity Correction and Paediatric Orthopaedic Trauma. He is a thoughtful speaker backed by his own research on patient perspectives and surgical outcome measures. He will make a great contribution to our meeting and will be present throughout the ICLs and ASM.

The Instructional Course Lectures will be very popular again this year so I would encourage your registrars to ensure they complete their registration for the meeting expediently. The ICL Committee has completed the programme with a focus on Neuromuscular, hip, knee and foot and ankle conditions. Our colleagues from New Zealand have keenly agreed to be involved in the lectures and small group discussions, and I would like to thank them and our Australian members for their continued willingness to contribute to this very important educational activity for APOS and POSNZ.

Finally, I would like to call for abstracts for the ASM. Please submit by 30 July. We would like to include a broad range of topics from a similarly broad range of authors and institutions. Submissions of abstracts should be emailed to

I look forward to seeing you all in Noosa.

Ivan Astori
APOS President
